Healthier Kids Foundation envisions all Silicon Valley Youth achieving good health, educational equity, and success in life. We partner with community organizations, schools, preschools, daycare sites, and parents to make sure that nothing gets in the way of good health.
Screening
VisionFirst
We use a SPOT high-tech photo-optic camera, Sloan Charts, and LEA symbols to detect vision concerns and assist with follow-up services and treatment.
HearingFirst
We use an AuDX Pro OAE screener and Audiometers, with certified school audiometrists, to identify undetected hearing concerns and help kids get appropriate treatment.
DentalFirst
Using trained dental personnel, this program screens children for undetected dental concerns and assists them with accessing follow-up dental care through case management.
My HealthFirst
School-based wellness checks for kids with unmet needs to assist them and their families in accessing services.
Education
10 Steps
A free five-class series for parents on healthy lifestyles to prevent or reduce childhood obesity.
Turning Wheels for Kids
Providing children with safe bikes to encourage lifelong habits of exercise, activity, and independence.
Kids in Common
Kids in Common brings together public agencies, schools, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
Care Navigation
AppointmentFirst
Care navigators to assist foster parents in accessing timely medical and dental appointments.
COPE
Identifies uninsured children and assists their parents in obtaining subsidized health coverage.
Baby Gateway
Enrolls newborns into Medi-Cal, ensures they secure a medical home, and provides resources before hospital discharge.
